Marvell discusses parliamentary debates on the importation of wine into the country and the parliamentary grants

Copy of letter held at Trinity College Cambridge. The letter was first printed in the second volume of Grosart’s edition of Marvell’s Works in 1875 (Letter CCCLXVIII) and reprinted in the second volume of Margoliouth’s edition (1927; 3rd rev. ed., 1971) (No. 294), where it’s listed among those said to be lost.

The letter was bought for two guineas in 1893 by William Aldis Wright, the Vice-Master, from a Florence Fanny Pape of Hull, whose father, a law stationer, inherited it with other ‘Valuable Manuscripts’ from a Miss Mary Lundie, also of Hull. Available to view in the searchroom at C SRL/R Box 1.
