The Docks and Parliamentary Committee was appointed in October 1858 to consider the corporation's response to a proposal put to it by by the Hull Dock Company. The Docks Visiting Committee seems to have run either as a committee in its own right or as a sub-committee of the Property or Docks and Parliamentary Committees, although its origins are difficult to identify.
