Admin History:
In early 1859, parliament passed the Sale of Gas Act, which regulated the measures used in the sale of gas. In October of that year, Hull Corporation appointed a Gas Measures Committee to examine the provisions of the act and report back on its adoption by the Town Council. The committee would eventually be merged with the Meters and Weighers Committee in November 1868.
