Admin History:
The Maternity and Child Welfare Committee was appointed October 1918. As well as including councillors, it was made up of interested parties from both within the council as well as external appointmentsLike many other of the more modern committees, its powers and duties were clearly defined from its inception. It was to carry out the duties imposed upon the council under the Maternity and Child Welfare Act, 1918 and the Midwives Act 1910. It met for the last time in October 1929 after which its responsibilities were transferred to the Health and Public Assistance Committee.
