The Mental Health Committee was established in July 1942 to investigate provision in Hull as a consequence of the 'inevitable increase in Neurosis and Nervous Disease and Child Delinquency in the city as a result of war conditions'. It was made up of representatives of the Health, Mental Hospital, Care of the Mentally Defective and Education Committees. It was disbanded in March 1945. One of it's recommendations was the setting up of a Mental Health Services Committee which was created in June 1944 and continued until April 1945 when its functions were taken over by the Health, Mental Hospital and Care of the Mentally Defective Committees.
