Hull Corporation Queen's Dock Committee, records

Dates:
1932-1935

Description

Admin History:
The future of the Queen's Dock in Hull had been the subject of much speculation and as a result the City Council established a special committee in May 1929 to consider the issue. The committee would be able to negotiate with the London and North Eastern Railway Company regarding the purchase of the Queen's Dock Estate site and the filling in of the dock. By the time of it's reappointment in the following year, the term 'Special' had been dropped from the official title. The committee was disbanded in October 1935 after completion of the work on the dock, and it's responsibilities were passed to the Works, Electricity, Property and Bridges, Water and Parks and Burial Committees.
