Dates:
1860-1873

Description

Admin History:
Founded in 1840 to promote developments in agriculture, the Royal Agricultural Society of England would go on to hold summer country meetings in various venues. Hull Town Council first raised the issue of hosting the 1861 country meeting in March 1860. A committee was formed to make an application but were unsuccessful and after presenting it's report back to the full council in May 1860, the committee was dissolved. In January 1872 the Royal Society wrote to the council asking if the council would again like to host the meeting for the following year, 1873. After agreeing to extend such an invitation, the council set up a committee to co-ordinate matters, which was dissolved in August 1873.
