Hull City Council Regional Development (Special) Committee

Dates:
1965-1972

Description

Admin History:
The Regional Development (Special) Committee was established in October 1965. Like many other of the more modern committees, it's the powers, duties and responsibilities were clearly defined from its inception. It was to consider the problems associated with regional development and safeguard the interests of the city. Any powers and duties regarding regional development carried out by other committees were to passed to the new committee, and it was to report back to the full council from time to time. In addition, the committee had the powers to obtain advice or employ people that may be necessary in order to assist them. One of the committee's first acts was to discuss a research project on behalf of the city with Anthony Goss from the Leeds School of Town Planning. The Regional Development (Special) Committee was dissolved in October 1971 under the general re-organisation of the council's committees.
