The Kingston upon Hull Local Youth Committee was established in 1940 under Board of Education Circular No.1486. It was to advise the Education Committee and was made up of Councillors as well as representatives of employers, workers and teachers organisations as well as some individual members. In 1949 the responsibility to manage the Hull Youth Employment Service, itself part of the National Youth Employment Service was added to the committee remit. The committee was dissolved in 1974 under the local government reforms when Humberside County Council took over responsibility for Youth Services.
