Grade I = Category A

Grade II = Category B1 and C1

Grade III = Category B2, C2, B3 and C3

Note: When general demobilisation began priority was given to officers and men who had definite employment awaiting them. Employers were asked to complete form R.C.V. for these men. A university, scientific or technical institution or employer expecting the return of an officer was asked to complete form R.C.T.V, and employers of men other than commissioned officers were asked to complete postcard E.D. 406. Men who had vacancies waiting for them were termed 'slip men' and subject to naval and military considerations received priority of release when general mobilisation began.
