Admin History:

In 1753 Cogan founded a school in Salthouse Lane to train 20 poor girls for domestic service. The school moved in 1889 to Park Street, until its closure in 1950.

Alderman Cogan High School opened in 1957 and continued to make use of Cogan's endowments. Girls who had been taught at Cogan's school and had completed 7 years in service were eligible for Cogan's marriage portion of £6. The charity became part of the United Hull Charities in 1913
