Rolston camp lies in the village of Mappleton, 19 km from Hull. The camp was orginally set up in 1939 under the auspices of the Jubilee Holiday Trust Fund set up by Archibald Stark a Hull cinema manager. In 1950 the City Council took over the camp. It was run by Humberside County Council from 1974 until it was passed back to Hull City Council in 1989 and closed in 1992. The site required substantial investment which the trust, which still administered the camp, were unable to fund and was put up for sale in 2002. It was still for sale in December 2010.
