In 1947 several fishing companies gave £3,000 to provide homes, for poor people connected with the fishing industry. They named the houses in memory of Thomas Hudson who died in 1945. Three bungalows were built in 1954 in Coltman Street. They were amalagmeted into the Pickering and Ferens Homes between 1998 and 2000.
