Admin History:
The Sutton, Stoneferry and Drypool Gas Company was established in 1847 to supply gas to the areas of Sutton, Stoneferry and Drypool in the eastern part of Hull. Incorporated in 1867, the company would go on to extend its coverage to Garrison Side and Marfleet. Its powers were extended in 1873, 1890 and 1906 and a year later, in 1907 it was renamed the East Hull Gas Company. By 1933, as well as supplying eastern Hull and Sutton, the company was also supplying Hedon and 10 other parishes in the East Riding. Nationalised in 1948, it became part of the North Eastern Gas Board.
