Recalls the 1941 blitz on Bean Street and hearing a bomb fall on Regent Street. When she returned to the house to found there was soot every-where and 'the ornaments smashed to pieces on the floor' so she helped her mother clean-up.
She remembers going home one night with the sky red and Daltry Street School was on fire and more bombs hit Bean Street 'the damage it made was dreadful'. She says that the workmen repaired the roads and how she helped a lady with a young child called Sheila. When bombs were dropped on Walker Street she writes 'I hope we don't have such terrifying nights again'.
