Captain William Charles Littlewood 'Bill' was born in 1927 and died in Nov 1994. He was a Naval Captain and a local historian. He was the Hon. Secretary of the Cottingham Local History Society from 1977 until 1991 when he became Chairman, until his death. He regularly gave talks relating to Hull, the Humber and the East Riding of Yorkshire. He lived in Cottingham most of his adult life but moved to Walkington before his death. He had a methodical system of filing his notes. His original numbering system has been referred to in the descriptions below.
