Admin History:

Albert Kaye Rollitt was born in Hull in 1842 and would eventually become a solicitor, businessman, ship owner and politician. He was elected a town councillor in 1882, firstly for Queens Ward and then later North Myton. 1883 saw him elected as mayor. In 1886 Rollitt was elected to Parliament as the Conservative MP for South Islington, losing his seat in 1906. In 1892 he promoted a private member's bill for women's sufferage which was only narrowly defeated. Knighted in 1885, Rollitt was married twice, and on his death in 1922, his ashes were returned to Hull.

Eleanor Rollitt (1853-1885) was born in Hull, the second daughter of William Bailey of Anlaby and later, Winestead. She married Rollitt in 1872 at St. Peter's, Anlaby. Very active with local charities, Eleanor's death at only 31 years of age seemed to have touched the city deeply.
