George Henry March and his wife Elizabeth Blenkin of Stoneferry in Hull had 9 children, 8 of whom would become involved in various different sectors of the arts. In 1901, the family moved to London, before moving to Farnborough in Kent.
3 members of the family became sculptors. Vernon March (1891-1930) was known for monumental works, such as the National War Memorial of Canada in Ottawa. On his death, his brother, Sydney March (1876-1968) completed the memorial. Their sister, Elsie March (1884-1974) also sculpted.
The remaining 6 brothers, Fredrick Henry March (1880-1962), Dudley March (1882-1974), Walter March (1888-1954) Edward March (1874-1940) and Percival March (1878-1953) all became artists, designers, jewellers or metal workers. The ninth member of the family, Eva Blenkin March (1881-1964) became their house-keeper.
