Dates:
1965-2000

Description

Admin History:
The Welton and Melton Women's Institute was founded in 1925, ten years after the first institute was established in Britain. In order to celebrate the 50th anniversary of their organisation, the Welton and Melton Institute compiled a scrapbook in 1965. This first scrapbook was essentially a record of the different facets of rural life, the institutes activities and the chief events the institute attended in the villages of Welton and Melton. A decision was made to continue the scrapbooks, although later years focused more on the activities of the institute itself, which was wound up in 2008
Description:
The scrapbooks contain photographs, cuttings, programmes, notes, newsletters, cards and in L DLWM/1, general information on the villages themselves. Previous library reference L.9.59WE.
