Description:

Including the club's inaugral meeting and a printed copy [incomplete] of the early rules of the Club. There is an account of a sports match with Hull Church Institute Swimming Club (Sep 1886) with events inlcuding diving, plunging, swimming with hands and feet tied and in ordinary costume 'with an open umbrella'. Entertainment was provided by an Exhibition of Ornamental Surface Swimming by two swimmers from Grimsby. The club visited Grimbsy (Apr 1887) to take-part in a water-polo match for The Friends of Fisherlads Institute.
