Clubs from across the region would enter with leagues for Ladies Doubles, Mens Doubles, Mixed Doubles and a Men's Junior (under 18 years) Evening League.

There were 8 clubs when the league was revived in 1948 and it gradually expanded to 36 teams in 1967.
