2) 29 June 1934 - pleased to her her name with Vera's on Brophy's book 'The World Went Mad'; speaking at a Peace Conference in Leamington tomorrow

3) 1 July 1934 - has read The World Went Mad and discussing it; mentions 'South Riding', in progress

4) 2 February 1935 - letter to Winifred Holtby from William Armstrong, The Playhouse, Liverpool - 'Hope of Thousands'; read the play, liked it but not sure if it would work at the Playhouse

5) 17 February 1935 - discussing whether to publish 'Hope of Thousands'; hoping to move into rooms at Hornsea

6) 30 May 1935 - 'Hope of Thousands', the Fernolds Producer at the Embassy like the play and want it but waiting for decision from Business Manager; will meet Robert Donat to discuss the play when his law suit over

7) 30 July 1935 - from Malvern (where Winifred Holtby ill all the time); Bernard Shaw at the hotel; feels better when Shaw around; Time & Tide; London Mercury; Schoolmistress

8) 8 September 1935 - 'Hope of Thousands' taken by Tyrone Guthrie (thanks to Brophy); signing option next week; Guthrie took Winifred to see a rehearsal with Sybil Thorndike and Marie Tempest; Guthrie wants to persuade Sybil to take part of Mother in play; David Meyer Co; Stephen Thomas; Agent, Naylor; Armstrong; Liverpool; New York

9) 17 September 195 (last letter), 23 Devonshire Street - received book but in Nursing Home, not allowed to read until she comes out, does not know when that will be
