English East India Company records relating to Java, 1602-1672

Description:

Contains approximately 3,200 slips, mostly written on both sides. These are excerpts from the records of the English East India Company, preserved in the India Records Office. The general character of these is as follows:

i) Records of the EIC, including Letters Received, Java Records etc., excerpted, together with extracts from some BM manuscripts, relating to Java, 12 Dec 1602-15 Feb 1618-19. (c.400 slips)

ii) EIC and other records, mostly relating to Bantam, 1620-1636. Includes excerpts from Java Records III, Original Correspondence, Vols., 11-15, also some extracts from the Dagh Register. (c.800 slips)

iii) EIC and other records, mostly relating to Bantam, 1636-1646. Includes extracts from Original Correspondence, Vols. 15-20, Dagh Register, etc. (c.500 slips)

iv) EIC and other records, mostly relating to Bantam, 1646-1657. Includes extracts from Original Correspondence, Vols. 20-25, Java Records III/III, Dagh Register, etc. (c.500 slips)

v) EIC and other records, mostly relating to Bantam, 1657-1672. Includes extracts from Original Correspondence, Vols. 26-33, Java Records, Vols. III/III to VI (A), Dagh Register, etc. (c.1,000 slips)
