Very dull and lonely in Sydney but there are more opportunities than in Auckland. 'Money seems to be the only passport to society here'. Is working as a draughtsman in an engineering office where he is doing well and can send his mother 4u/- a week. Advises Baines not to come out to Australia again as it is much changed.
