This small collection of papers relating to the affairs (especially financial) of Samuel Richard Radford of Alvaston, Derby and his brother Edward Radford comprises largely correspondence, especially letters concerning the estate of John Borough of Derby 1826-1829, letters about investments in railway stock and about 50 letters from Edward Radford to his brother about his financial and family affairs. There are also some circular letters to shareholders of Scottish Central Railway dated 1849-1850. The collection also contains the marriage settlements of Joseph Bainbrigge and Hannah Harrison (1789) and Edward Radford and Eliza Diana Childers (1820) and the wills of Sarah Childers (1816) and James Bligh (1833). There is a bundle of accounts and other documents relating to the sale/purchase of the manor of Alvaston in county Derby in 1814 (presumably by Samuel Richard Radford).
