Manor or capital messuage called Arres nere Wyghton: Provision for payment of rent in parish church of Kyrkebye Overblawez; and for repayament to W.H. of £40 in case of death of H.J. within 6 years resulting in W.H. being put out of the premises. W.H. having also paid £40 'love money' to H.J. at the sealing of the lease, H.J. covenants to repay it by ensuing Pentecost. Recites that H.J., for better assurance and as security for performance of covenants of the lease, has delivered to W.H. a Crown grant of the herbage of Spofforth Park (3 August 1537); a grant from the Earl of Northumberland of the keepership of Spofforth Park (12 February 1534/5); and an indenture of defeasance from Sir Thomas Metham and others: which keepership and herbage H.J. has assigned to Sir Thomas Metham and Frauncys Slyngesbye, esq. for £40 a year. H.J. also covenants to deliver to W.H. the counterpart deed of this agreement to Sir T.N. and F.S., with their bond for performance of covenants; which W.H. shall keep, with the other deeds delivered to him, until H.J. has entered into sufficient securities for the payment of the two sums of £40 referred to above, returning them to H.J. thereafter.
