Description:
His brother Sir John Draycott and successors as patrons of Draycott (Staffs) church to have the letting of the premises, taking the service of and her lot at death of any tenant for their pains. A churchwarden of Draycott to take the rent of the premises, providing each Sunday 12d. worth of bread and 20d. worth of white herrings at Draycott church porch for 30 poorest householders of Draycott (each to 1/2d. in bread, and 4 herrings as long as they were 6 herrings for 1d., otherwise 3 herrings), and having each Sunday for his apains 1d., and any bread and fish left over. W.D.'s obit to be kept every Shere Thursday with 2 priests each having 4d. for a dirge and mass; 1d. being offered for W.D.'s headmass; and the clerk having 2d. for ringing. The churchwardens to provide the 30 poor as above with 15d. worth of bread and 30d. worth of flesh on Easter eve, taking 1d. himself. The churchwarden to buy 3s. worth of wax yearly for 5 'sherges', one bigger than the other four. This biggest one to stand every 'Teneble Webbysdat' and Shere Thursday on W.D.'s hearse, and then to burn before the Septulchre from Good Friday to the Resurrection. The other four 'sherges', in descending order of merit, to be placed before the images of Our Lady, St. Peter, Mary Magdalene, and St. Katherine; to burn at divine service at convenient. Whoever makes the 'sherges' to have 2d.: This deed to be tripartite: (i) with the lord of Penesley, patren of Draycott church, (ii) with the Abbey of Croxden 'with myn evydens belongyng to the said lords', (iii) with the person of Drycott, to be kept in a doffer in the church
