Copy letter from Sir John (probably) or Capt. Hotham, Beverley, to Newcastle

Reference No:
U DDHO/1/22
Dates:
2 Mar 1643
Description:
Will impede nothing that would accommodate the Queen. If he cares to send men to Hull, 'the Cellare shall all be open to them' and what help possible given in conveying it. Is troubled that Newcastle's last letter expressed some doubt that the promise might not be kept at the cessation. Begs him not to make 'this poore country' the seat of war. Knows well 'the fountain of these Violent Counsells.' If all friends and tenants are ruined 'we are fitted for desperacion.'
