Papers relating to the work of Humberside Theatre in Education (TIE), which company was founded in April 1983 and operated until 1996. The company's work involved the development, arrangement and staging of plays with accompanying exploratory workshops in schools and for school groups at local theatres. It was a member organisation of the Independent Theatre Council and was one of a number of Theatre in Education companies throughout the country. The company received grants from various councils including the Yorkshire and Humberside Arts Council, Lincolnshire and Yorkshire Arts Council, Boothferry Borough Council. It worked out of Hessle High School, Lower School, Boothferry Road, Hessle.

The collection contains original scripts; project files containing correspondence, schedules, teachers' packs, booking forms, feedback forms and responses; administrative files including minutes, annual reports, and correspondence relating to publicity, trips, arts and disability, ASSITEJ GB and grant applications; and financial files including financial statements, correspondence with accountant, interim budget and expenditure accounts.
