Writer's notebooks in which John Godber first conceived ideas for plays including plot and storyline and sometimes storyboards. Also director's notebooks in which Godber wrote notes for directing actors in his plays. Note that some notebooks contain both writer's and director's notes and that several contain general notes relating to day-to-day life e.g. appointments, mortgage calculations, his children's doodles. Arranged chronologically.
