Description:
First laptop used by the LC group at Hull. Used for demonstration purposes to show application of LCD to technology during lab demonstrations and prospective student open days. Screen uses a Supertwisted Nematic Liquid Crystal Display, invented by Professor E.P. Raynes FRS and Colin Waters who was a student of G.W. Gray. Their work developed out of Gray's discovery of cyanobiphenyls. The laptop was also used to store images of cyano biphenyls to illustrate further research undertaken at Hull during demonstrations and open days.
