- 11 Dec 1985
- Description:
- Reference to being sorry not to have seen Jones on Monday [at the funeral of Philip Larkin], all agreed the day was 'entirely appropriate', writer thinks Larkin would have been 'surprised and touched' by the number of attendees, was struck by the way in which the university and other local people 'had set about showing how much they had valued him and what a special place he had in their hearts', no point in going into what Larkin meant to the writer and Jones, offers help and asks Jones to seriously consider the offer, no need to have a reason for calling. Written from London. Manuscript.
