- Reference to having just received a call from Faber informing him of the news [death of Philip Larkin], The Spectator has asked him to write something about Philip [Larkin] but that 'his death has taken all my heart for speech', offers Jones help, glad Philip and he became friends over the 'talk about Pym', Larkin confided in him that he was 'very glad' Jones had moved to Newland Park and that it was obvious 'how very deeply fond' of her he was, possible funeral.
