Description:: Journal kept by John Hall Oliver, agent for the Port of Hull Society in Hull. Enclosures: press cuttings and a member's ticket to the Shipwrecked Fishermen and Mariners' Royal Benevolent Society dated 17 Dec 1858. Note that final pages of the volume contain notes written in a separate hand to the rest of the volume; notes include a transcript is of a letter from John Hall Oliver to his wife and references to the ship 'Valiant' as a floating chapel by the Port of Hull Society.
