Hughes as honorary chaplain to East and South Goodwin lightvessels, Glyn Jones as Auxilliary Ministries Secretary and Reverend Bob Precious as secretary of the Lightships and Lighthouses Committee of the Missions to Seamen. Includes references to the following: reports of visits to East and Goodwin lightvessels by Ted Hughes; reports of visits by Reverend Peter C. Webber as honorary chaplain to Varne lightvessel; concerns that the South Goodwin lighvessel is to be automated; Trinity House launches from Dover used to transport honorary chaplains; Christmas 1983 visits made aboard the Dover lifeboat 'Rotary Service'; weather conditions experienced during visits; delivery of newspapers and books to crews of the lightvessels.
