Plays by Richard Bean entitled 'Distant Water', about five deckhands from Hull on a fishing trawler to Greenland, 'Unsinkable', about the lives of Hull trawlermen in the 1960s, and 'Under the Whaleback', about the Hull trawlerman, Darrel Ascough, at three different stages in his life. Contains an annotated, draft script for a stage play entitled 'Distant Water'; three draft scripts for a radio play entitled 'Unsinkable' (2000); an annotated, draft script for a stage play entitled 'Under the Whaleback'; copies of reviews for 'Under the Whaleback'; related handwritten notes; copies of newspaper, magazine and website articles relating to trawling and the fishing industry in Hull; a programme for the Royal Court Theatre including a section relating to 'Under the Whaleback' with advertising leaflets for the production; related correspondence to Richard Bean; and a colour photograph of the opening night of 'Under the Whaleback' at the Wilma Theatre, Philadelphia.
