Description:

This artificial collection of correspondence is items found throughout the Collection and are sorted chronologically.

It contains letters from a number of sources including: Merchant Navy Welfare Board explaining the sale of the Merchant Navy Hotel and mentioning Watch Ashore Medals that they hold; solicitor detailing legacy, from various Honourable General Secretaries to all branch secretaries including the National Chairman's resignation, details of memorial service for Lady Headley and organisational matters including retirement of Dorothy Cookson; letter from Royal Merchant Navy School Foundation asking to raise awareness of them with The Watch Ashore's members, invitation to Merchant Navy World War II Service of Commemoration and Thanksgiving (1995); letter from Royal Merchant Navy School Foundation asking for funding (Oct 1997); The Missions to Seamen thanking Watch Ashore for their donation (June 1997); Department of Transport stating that a Formal Investigation into the sinking of the Derbyshire was not going to be held and correspondence between Watch Ashore officers detailing the closure of the Harwich and Dovercourt branch and where the branch badge will be stored.
