Market Weighton is a small town in East Yorkshire between Hull and York which are both about 20 miles away. It was listed in the Domesday Book as "Wicstun" and was granted a Charter in 1251 to hold a market. Parts of its parish church are Norman in origin.

Former resident William Bradley, also called the Yorkshire Giant - who reached a height of 7 ft 9" was born in the town and is celebrated each May with a festival in his name.
