- Professor Ronald H. Barback was born in 1919 and was a professor in the Department of Economics and Commerce at the University of Hull. He served as Second Chair of Economics and later as Head of the Department of Economics and was employed by the University from 1965 to 1976. In 1976, he took up the post of Head of Economic Research at the Confederation of British Industry.

- This small collection predominantly contains agreements relating to various different trade unions from the UK and the US, including the Confederation of Shipbuilding and Engineering Unions; the New York Central and other Railroad Companies and Brotherhood of Railway and Steamship Clerks, Freight Handlers, Express and Station Employees; and the National Union of Leatherworkers. There are also some related union handbooks and published guides on rates of pay and other employment concerns.
