Description

Admin History:
Dr V.N. Sharma was a medical practitioner who became Director General of Hospitals in India. Bose first became involved in the nationalist movement in India in 1921 and rose to prominence in the late 1930s as President of the Indian National Congress and founder of the Forward Bloc. During the Second World War he fled to Germany to escape arrest and returned in 1943 to lead the Indian National Army in its attempt to liberate the country from British rule. He died in mysterious circumstances in an aeroplane crash over Taiwan in 1945. It appears that the two were friends and correspondents and that Bose often sought personal medical advice from Sharma.
