Roy Niblett was born in 1906. Following his education at the Universities of Bristol and Oxford he became Lecturer in Education at Kings College, Newcastle, in 1934, before becoming Professor of Education at the University College of Hull in 1945. Two years later, in 1947, he took up the Chair of Education at the University of Leeds before becoming Director of the newly-created Institute of Education in 1948. He left Leeds in 1959 to become Dean of the University of London Institute of Education. He was was created CBE in 1970, and in 1992 he was named Life Vice-President of the Society for Research into Higher Education. Professor Niblett died in May 2005, aged 98.

Includes recollections of staff, trying to attract more students to Hull and working as an external examiner and leaving to become Director, Institute of Education at Leeds University.

It also includes references to the Foundations Conference (which met 1946-1958) which led to several short books under the general title 'Educational Issues of Today'.
