Typescript copies and summaries of Bishop F.T. McDougall's Letter Book from the Turner Papers (1853-1855). The recipients include Thomas Vowler Short (Bishop of St Asaph), Mrs Brereton, J.C. Templer, Rajah James Brooke, Revd G.W. Cox, C.J. Bunyon, Revd W.T. Bullock, Revd A. Horsborough, Revd W.H. Gomes, Miss Browne, Elizabeth Wooley, J. Harvey, Revd E. Hawkins and Samuel Clarke.
The range of topics covered includes domestic, missionary, school and political affairs, including preparations for travelling to Sarawak and the need for the purchase of a ship. Biographical notes on some of the recipients have also been included.
The letters were written from a number of locations including London, Yarmouth, Dublin, Armagh, Forncett St Mary, Norfolk, Norwich, White Lackington [Dorset], Bath, Debenham, Suffolk, Ship 'Alfred', Schooner 'Eliza Penelope', Sarawak and Singapore.
