The Cottingham Civic Society was formed in 1986 in response to the plans of the University of Hull to sell land near Thwaite Hall for redevelopment. The Society is still active today and aims to protect buildings and other features in Cottingham of historical or public interest, to educate the public in the geography and history of Cottingham and to ensure high standards of building planning.
Description:
This small collection contains one file of papers relating to the Cottingham Civic Society, in particular their opposition to the University of Hull selling land at Thwaite Hall gardens for redevelopment and their interest in gaining better public transport links for Cottingham. The file contains predominantly Civic Society minutes and agendas.
