- William Stickney was born at Ridgmont, Holderness, on 20th September 1764 and died in 1848. In May 1789 he entered into a partnership with his step-father Thomas Parkinson and ran the farm at Ridgmont until he died. William married twice, all, except one, of his nine children living to adult-hood. He wrote the diary when he was in his early twenties. He was buried at Owstwick.

This small collection contains a photocopy of the diary of William Stickney of Ridgmont, kept between 1786-1789. The entries are predominantly focused on the work of the farm and William's religious beliefs. The handwriting is small and can be hard to read.
This item has been removed from our collections, as a copy of the diary is already contained within the papers of Fred Fletcher. This can be found at U DFF/8/10.
