see C DBKC for a more detailed administrative history. The Darlington Branch of King & Co was acquired in 1924. Leonard Thomas Barker was born in 1921 and joined the company in Northgate, Darlington aged 14 straight after leaving school. He became Managing Directtor in 1969 after the company moved to larger premises in Darlington. He retired from the Company in 1986 and died in 2002. His wife died in 2021. The records in this collection really compliment the records in C DBKC which were either deposited by the Company in 1974 or recovered from the Company's Hull premises on South Church Side when Hull City Council took possession of it in 1981.
