The Local Studies Library contains printed material related to Hull's Fortifications. These include Town and Gun: the 17th century defences of Hull by Audrey Howes (L.623.1); Hull's Town Walls by John Bryan Sitch (L.9.703); The Walls and Gates of Hull by W. Foot-Walker (L.623.1).

Charters and letters patent granted to Kingston upon Hull, translated by J.R. Boyle contains the Charter confirmed by Edward II giving licence to fortify and to enclose the town with moats and with a wall of stone and lime, and may crenelate that wall, p.9 (L.9.7). Lending copies available in the library area.
