Reference to diary keeping, shared acquaintences, being sent three Oxford English novels to review for the TLS, health of writer's mother, financial matters, news of writer's family, watched footage of opening of the new Liverpool Cathedral, listening to music, 'Topsy' being no more, tremendous storm during which the basements of the students union, library and writer's house were flooded, boiler house of a halls of residence flooded and the hall as evacuated, upcoming visit from writer's mother, regards to Philip, Philip Larkin being recognized in a bar in York whilst with the writer and Jones, request for news of Leicester, visit to London during which the writer saw Margaret Rutherford in The Rivals and a Marx Borthers film. Envelope present, postmark Manchester, sent to Jones at Leicester. Manuscript. Note that there is a shopping list written on the reverse of the envelope.
